The Integrative Approach
The Life-Force School of Counselling provides a distinctive training in Integrative Counselling. The foundation of our model is based on a humanistic philosophy and Rogerian approach which embraces the core conditions. This non-directive client-led practise is informed by a theoretical integration of existential, psychodynamic and other theories.
The course further draws on certain aspects of psychodynamic thought to enrich the understanding of both human developments and the dynamics of the counselling relationship. An emphasis on the relationship and empowerment of the client are seen as fundamental to the process of therapeutic change and we encourage our students to develop their own style of counselling within the core integrative model being delivered.
This holistic approach also focuses on the need for the integration of thinking, feeling and behaving together with an awareness of the social and cultural contexts of counselling as a whole.
