The Centre is situated in the heart of Colchester close to the town centre at the top of East Hill and has several car parks within short walking distance.
Centre History
The LIFE-FORCE Organisation was initially launched in 1990 and then moved into business premises in Oxford Road September 1994 when the LIFE-FORCE Centre was founded. After more than 10 years of trading the Centre relocated to permanent premises at East Hill during June 2005. Since then the Centre has occupied this Grade II listed building which has been renovated to a high standard and tastefully furnished to provide a comfortable, warm and inviting atmosphere. The building also fully meets the required health & safety standards.
Centre Director
Nicole Joyce, the Centre Director became a BACP Accredited Counsellor in 1996 and went on to achieve BACP Senior Counsellor Accreditation in 2003. She runs the Centre on a day to day basis with the support of Martin Chester the Health & Safety Officer and Centre Support Manager.
Counselling Service
The Centre provides a professional independent BACP Accredited Counselling Service for adults, children & young people and couples. The Service is comprised of approximately 25 qualified Team Counsellors and 5-10 student counsellors on placement. The Service is run by Alison Scrutton the Counselling Service Manager who deals with all client referrals in a confidential, prompt and professional way.
Rooms
The Centre is pleased to also house the Life-Force School of Counselling training days during which Life-Force School has exclusive hire of the Rainbow Room for the Level 2 – Introduction to Counselling; Level 3 – Certificate in Counselling Skills and Level 4 – Diploma in Integrative Counselling training courses. The School also uses the Centre’s therapy rooms for the course breakout sessions and skills practise.
